I'm Working on it...

I like to learn. There’s just something about gaining knowledge about a subject or process. It makes me feel smarter, I guess. HA! I am learning lately, though, that some lessons are hard to take in – hard to understand. God has been trying to teach me patience. It’s a toughy! I am one of those people who likes to have everything “so-so.” A place for everything; everything in its place. But in life, there are times when things seem out of whack. Sometimes you feel like you aren’t in control of circumstances, and it’s the truth. We aren’t in control. In fact, we should want to GIVE control over to God and let Him handle the little difficulties (or big storms) that come our way. But, HELLO, that is hard to do, right? Am I the only one who feels that way?
I admit, the more I am praying and seeking God to help me each day, He is doing just that. I do enjoy the feeling of taking that back pack of burdens off my back and passing it over to Him. He can handle it.
The song “Stand Still” by The Isaacs is one of my favorites. It should be playing as you read. The best part of the song – in my opinion –  comes in the chorus:
Stand still, and let God move. Standing still is hard to do. When you feel you have reached the end, He’ll make a way for you. Stand still, and let God move.
Friend, let Him work for you, in you and through you today. When you feel that you’ve done everything you can do about a particular situation or relationship – whatever it may be – just stop trying, pray, and give that burden to the Lord. He’s strong enough to carry not only your burdens alone, but also those of the entire world! How about my God? He is really something!

Win or Lose...

Well, my guys didn't win, but hey - that's ok. It's ok, because I am still proud to be a Mountaineer! And, there's always next season. :) Happy Monday!

Take Me Home...

Mazzulla Represents (taken from the Gold and Blue Zone)
Gotta share one of my all-time favorite songs with you today - Country Roads by John Denver. (Make sure you listen to his version, as well as the second version I have on my playlist by the Pride of WV - the Mountaineer Marching Band!) This song is appropriate right now, because it's MARCH, BABY! And it is certainly Madness as usual. Thankfully, my Mountaineers advanced yesterday and will play Kentucky Saturday to go to the Sweet 16. It will, no doubt, be a hard-fought game, and I have every confidence that my team can pull out a W. We will see what happens, though! You just never know what the outcome may be. I do know I am proud to be a Mountaineer and proud to have been born in the greatest state in the U.S. - Good ol' WV. Enjoy the music and enjoy the game Saturday, fellow Mountie fans! Let's GOOOOOOO...

Glad you were born...

Just wanted to share that today is my mom's birthday! I am thankful for her, and hope she has the best day today. She certainly deserves it. Love you, MOM! If not for you and dad, I wouldn't be here.

"No Guilt in Life...No Fear in Death..."

Well, I finally had time to pick a favorite song on this fine "Favorite Song Friday!" And I am so glad I did, because this song just blesses me every time I hear it and makes me want to shout! In Christ Alone is its name. You should hear it playing now, as I added it as #1 on my blog play list.
I used one of my favorite lines of this song as the title for this post. "No guilt in life, no fear in death. This is the power of Christ in me. From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny." PRAISE THE LORD, He is so good. What a gift - to save us, not only from an eternity in hell, but also from an earthly life filled with guilt and uncertainty.
I could go on all day about my favorite lines in this song..."He is my light, my strength, my song..." "What heights of love - what depths of peace - when fears are stilled, when strivings cease...my Comforter, my ALL IN ALL..."  Maybe I should type out the words to the whole song ? :)
Anyways, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I know I will for several reasons: 1. Tonight is date night. 2. Shopping with mom on Saturday. 3. Having dinner with the family for mom's birthday (which is MONDAY, so if you will see or talk to my mom between now and then, please wish her a happy one!) 4. Church Sunday.
Hmmmm...the only things that could make this weekend better would be 70 degree, sunny weather and another Big East Championship for my Mountaineers. But, hey, since that's not gonna happen, I guess I will look at the bright side...enjoy the 50-degree weather and say, Let's go, Irish!

Together is the BEST place to be...

The Hubs and I recently took a little trip to Gatlinburg, TN...same place we honeymooned 2 1/2 years ago! FUN times! We really enjoyed it, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Here are a couple pics I thought I would share.

JBS + BDS
They still had the Christmas lights up...very pretty.

Had to share this pic of the duckie we saw - if you look close, you can see his little duck tail curl - TOO cute.

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.

ps. Don't you love the latest song choices? :)

Be Forgiven ; Find Peace

Have you ever heard someone say something and thought I knew that, but it makes so much more sense now than ever before! I seem to have those moments more and more lately. Aww shucks, I guess I’m growing up, y’all…
My dad leads the singing at my church – Victory Baptist Church, aka, best church EVER. The choir sang “I’d Rather have Jesus” on a recent Sunday morning. After the song was done, dad mentioned to the congregation that wealth and material things would be gone one day, but the peace that passes all understanding would enable us to pillow our head each night and rest. That is worth far more than any house, car or toy we could ever possess.  (Major paraphrasing there)
HELLO. That is so true. The more I “grow up” the more I realize, yes, it is nice to have things. There is nothing wrong with having things – as long as you are also giving to the Lord what He requires, which is such a small amount of what He GIVES to us. But knowing that I am right where God wants me to be and I am striving each day to do what He wants me to do – there is nothing like that peace! We all slip from time to time – daily even. We are human. Don’t we forget that sometimes? This leads me to another point…
Forgive others and FORGIVE YOURSELF. We are all going to do things that make us say, That’s not me! I don’t say things or do things like that! Guess what…everyone has felt that way. Let it go. Make things right with whomever you need to and LET IT GO. God has forgiven everyone in the entire world, and this includes me and you, friend! Accept His forgiveness first of all, forgive others and forgive yourself.
p.s. I have been so busy at work that “Favorite Song Fridays” has slipped my mind. I am going to get back into that eventually, but it may be a while. For now…enjoy the music on the blog. Skip through the songs and check each one out. They are definitely some of my faves!
