Looking forward to 2011...

I like to look at the upcoming new year as a clean slate - a fresh start. I guess I've never set an actual resolution for myself...like lose weight or do/don't do this or that. I want to just be an all-around better person in 2011. I look for the Lord to bring some exciting happenings into my and Josh's life this year. I am super excited! Looking back at 2010, I can see how the Lord worked in many ways. No matter what, He was faithful. And for that I am truly thankful. I pray that I can be a better Christian, wife, daughter, sister, employee - and more - this year! Here's to a fulfilling 2011...

Only 9 more days?!?!?

I cannot believe it...I really can't. Christmas is NEXT week. NEXT WEEK! Time is flying by at rapid speed. I will admit (with a smidge of pride) that I starting shopping early this year and got most everything crossed off the list weeks ago. BUT there are those couple of last minute items I need to pick up...hopefully the weather will cooperate! How is your Christmas shopping going?

p.s. I have so much going on right now that I probably won't be back on here for several days...Merry Christmas to ALL! {JESUS is the REASON}

The ugliest word ever spoken is spelled...S-N-O-W!

Well, it is winter once again in good ol' WV. Actually, it's technically not even winter just yet, but we are getting all of the symptoms - cold, snow, wet - and sometimes icy - roads...and I am ALREADY sick of it. I will admit the roads seems to be better taken care of so far this year than last year. I'm honestly surprised they have cancelled school - I guess they will cancel it if it snows even an inch from now on.
Sure, sure - it's pretty to look at if you're sitting at home. I vote for sunshine all day today to melt this stuff away, then a light dusting of snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, followed by 80 degrees and sun until December 24th of 2011! Who's with me? :)

Water, water, everywhere!

Ok, got a great story for you...
One Friday night last winter, Josh woke up in the middle of the night and thought he could hear water running. Concerned that we may have a flooded basement, he ran downstairs to check things out - all good! We couldn't find water anywhere. So, we went back to sleep, thinking nothing more about it. Josh had to go to work the next morning, so he got up about 6:30 and went outside to warm up the car. Not long after, he came back in to tell me we had a stream of water running down our sloped driveway which was freezing quickly, giving us our very own ice skating rink. NOT cool. So, enter the water company guy, who was thankfully able to locate the problem, but un-thankfully let us know WE had to pay to have it fixed. It was a simple thing - a broken fitting or something like that, so they were able to do a temporary fix. But the official "FIX" would have to be taken care of by us, due to the fact that the leak was on OUR side of the water meter. Joy joy joy.
A couple months back, we found a company who said they could easily fix the problem, and for not too high of a fee, which was great news! The difficult part was finding the time to fix it and having appropriate weather! Meanwhile, the leak has started easing its way out again, jacking our water/sewer bill up about 50%!! Well, I am writing this today to rejoice over the fact that IT IS BEING FIXED THIS AFTERNOON! (I hope.) That is the plan, anyways. Isn't it nice to read a story with a happy ending?

It's Magical!

This weekend I was chatting with my cousin who has two adorable little boys. She was telling me that her oldest, who is four, sat and talked about the Christmas tree for hours the other night after they put it up. I love it! Truly, Christmas is magical; first of all, in the fact that it is the time we celebrate as Jesus' birthday. It doesn't get more magical than that. Secondly, it is just a fun time, filled with laughter and joy and celebration! The lights, the music, the cooler (and sometimes snowy) weather, the family time...it is all so magical! There's just something about it. Truthfully, I feel the same way this little guy did - I could sit and stare at the tree for hours, just enjoying the season. I am glad I still realize that magic - hopefully I ALWAYS will. Still a child at heart - can I get an Amen?!? As soon as I get my tree up, I plan to post pics - PLAN. :)
Everyone have a wonderful day!

Just a little advertisment...

My husband is an excellent graphic designer! (It's true...I'm not just speaking as his adoring wife.) He started a side business - Cutting Edge Advertising -  here at home with one of our close friends a few years ago. They do signs, decals, shirts - anything and everything dealing with vinyl and much more!
Most recently, he has personally started an Etsy store called The Cutting Edge Shop. (What kind of wife would I be if I didn't promote him a bit? hehe) Please check him out at etsy.com. Here are just a few examples of wall art he is selling. And, of course, he can make any custom wall art you may like to have. These items are great for kids rooms.  Of course, more adult-type wall art is available as well, such as Bible verses, special quotations, anything you may want! They also make great Christmas gifts. He is always coming up with new ideas for items to sell, so keep checking Etsy frequently! Tell your friends and family!

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee...

I really love the verse I used for my latest title. I guess this blog is going to be a sort of "outlet" for me from time to time. Nothing super personal or anything, but just a free write to let me blow off steam or just praise the Lord for something He's done in my life. Today, is a praise the Lord day! Granted, every day should be that way. So often, though, I fail to recognize God's goodness on days when maybe don't feel as close to Him or don't understand a particular situation I'm going through. Lately, I have been praying about something specific. I just really needed peace - you know...the kind that only the Lord can give. And He bombarded me with it this morning! I mean, absolutely, positively, completely BOMBARDED me with it. I am so thankful!
"Thank you, Lord, for blessing me today with your unsurpassed peace..."

Getting Started

Well, obviously, I've decided to start a blog...and I am pretty psyched about it! I've always thought it would be a fun thing to do, so it's time to give it a try. I titled the blog "It's an Adventure" because Josh and I tend to use that phrase any time we do ANYTHING really...and it's true! Our life together is an adventure - one that I am loving to the max! I am going to try to post as often as possible, but we will see how that goes, as life is absolutely adventure-filled right now with home, work, church, family, friends, etc. Hopefully at least one post a week, but maybe more. For now, I must get back to work! Talk to you soon...
