Looking forward to 2011...

I like to look at the upcoming new year as a clean slate - a fresh start. I guess I've never set an actual resolution for myself...like lose weight or do/don't do this or that. I want to just be an all-around better person in 2011. I look for the Lord to bring some exciting happenings into my and Josh's life this year. I am super excited! Looking back at 2010, I can see how the Lord worked in many ways. No matter what, He was faithful. And for that I am truly thankful. I pray that I can be a better Christian, wife, daughter, sister, employee - and more - this year! Here's to a fulfilling 2011...

Only 9 more days?!?!?

I cannot believe it...I really can't. Christmas is NEXT week. NEXT WEEK! Time is flying by at rapid speed. I will admit (with a smidge of pride) that I starting shopping early this year and got most everything crossed off the list weeks ago. BUT there are those couple of last minute items I need to pick up...hopefully the weather will cooperate! How is your Christmas shopping going?

p.s. I have so much going on right now that I probably won't be back on here for several days...Merry Christmas to ALL! {JESUS is the REASON}

The ugliest word ever spoken is spelled...S-N-O-W!

Well, it is winter once again in good ol' WV. Actually, it's technically not even winter just yet, but we are getting all of the symptoms - cold, snow, wet - and sometimes icy - roads...and I am ALREADY sick of it. I will admit the roads seems to be better taken care of so far this year than last year. I'm honestly surprised they have cancelled school - I guess they will cancel it if it snows even an inch from now on.
Sure, sure - it's pretty to look at if you're sitting at home. I vote for sunshine all day today to melt this stuff away, then a light dusting of snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, followed by 80 degrees and sun until December 24th of 2011! Who's with me? :)

Water, water, everywhere!

Ok, got a great story for you...
One Friday night last winter, Josh woke up in the middle of the night and thought he could hear water running. Concerned that we may have a flooded basement, he ran downstairs to check things out - all good! We couldn't find water anywhere. So, we went back to sleep, thinking nothing more about it. Josh had to go to work the next morning, so he got up about 6:30 and went outside to warm up the car. Not long after, he came back in to tell me we had a stream of water running down our sloped driveway which was freezing quickly, giving us our very own ice skating rink. NOT cool. So, enter the water company guy, who was thankfully able to locate the problem, but un-thankfully let us know WE had to pay to have it fixed. It was a simple thing - a broken fitting or something like that, so they were able to do a temporary fix. But the official "FIX" would have to be taken care of by us, due to the fact that the leak was on OUR side of the water meter. Joy joy joy.
A couple months back, we found a company who said they could easily fix the problem, and for not too high of a fee, which was great news! The difficult part was finding the time to fix it and having appropriate weather! Meanwhile, the leak has started easing its way out again, jacking our water/sewer bill up about 50%!! Well, I am writing this today to rejoice over the fact that IT IS BEING FIXED THIS AFTERNOON! (I hope.) That is the plan, anyways. Isn't it nice to read a story with a happy ending?
